Knoxville, TN

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you assign booths?

Hoot 2007 vendors have first priority over their booth from last year, if they send their application and 50% deposit to the vendor show office by February 29, 2008.  There are some minor exceptions to this rule, including redesigning of booth spaces. Honda always reserves the right to move vendors if it is necessary for the overall layout and flow of the show.

Hoot 2007 vendors will be given first priority over moving booths based on when we receive their application and deposit.

New vendors are allocated spaces based on remaining booths after all 2007 vendors have been placed mid-March.  Booths will be assigned based on when we receive the application and deposit.  So get your applications in early.

Do you limit the number of vendors by product?

No, as a general rule, the Honda Hoot does not restrict the number of vendors by categories.  There are a few minor exceptions to this rule, like pinstripers, sunglass vendors and jewelry vendors.

What are the show hours?

Show hours are:

Wednesday - Saturday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

When is set up?

Set up is Monday and Tuesday, June 16th and 17th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  You must arrive by Noon on Tuesday or you will be considered a no-show.  If you must arrive after that time, contact the vendor show office before June 13th to make alternative arrangements.  Your set up must be complete by 5:00 pm on Tuesday.  You cannot set up on Wednesday.

Can I tear down early?

Tear down begins Saturday after 6:00 pm.  There are no exceptions to this rule. We will not allow vehicles into the area until all attendees have been cleared.  You will be given move out instructions from our onsite staff for the order in which we will allow car and truck into the vendor area.

Can I sell items with Honda names or images (like the GoldWing)?

You can only sell items with Honda names or images if you are licensed by Honda to do so, or you have purchased the items from an authorized Honda licensee.  If you do not have a license and attempt to sell products with Honda trademarked names and/or images, Honda has the right to require you to stop selling those items and even has the legal right to confiscate the items.  If you would like to inquire about obtaining a limited license for the Hoot you can contact Pamela Beam at 310-783-3729.

You will be asked to send a written request giving a description of your product. If they chose to, Honda can then send you an application.  This would require submitting business projections as well as samples of your work. Their will be a licensing fee associated with any license, usually a percentage of your sales from the product.

Where do the vendors park?

Each vendor is given one vendor parking pass for parking inside the vendor show.  Spaces are on a first come basis.  Additional parking passes can be given to vendors to park in the demo area.

We will have a 24 hour parking area for trucks and trailers that cannot be moved once they are parked.  This parking area will fill up, and is available on a first come basis.

There is no parking of RV in Chilhowee Park, either during the day or overnight.

Can I have extra parking passes?

No, we only have enough room for each vendor to have one, but additional spots are available in the demo area.

Can I bring by motorcycle into the Jacob building?

If the motorcycle is part of your display you can bring it in. It must be in place no later than 8:00 am each day and cannot be removed until after all attendees have left the building.  It can only have a small amount of fuel in the tank and the tank must be locked, while in the building.  No servicing of motorcycles is allowed in the Jacob building.

What are the procedures for servicing motorcycles?

Only outdoor vendors are allowed to service motorcycles during the Hoot.  Each servicing vendor will be given a stack of servicing slips that must be filled out when making appointments with customers.

   1.  Each slip must be filled out completely, including time and date;

   2.  Customers will only be allowed in 10 mins before their appointment;

   3.  If your booth is crowded with servicing that has not been completed we may detain your customer from coming to your booth;

   4.  Customers must pick up their motorcycle immediately following their service.  You cannot use the space in front of your booth to park motorcycles.

   5.  Customers must be a Hoot attendee for the day of their appointment.

   6.  During show hours customers will enter and exit from the attendee parking lot on the far side of the lake.  After show hours they will enter and exit from the vendor show gate on Lakeside Drive.

Can I service bikes or work in my booth after hours?

The Jacob building will be closed one hour after the show ends each day.  No vendor will be allowed in their booth after that time.  They will have access to their booth one hour before the show opens each day.

Outside vendors can stay in their booth for servicing or general work up to 10:00 pm.  You must let your onsite vendor coordinator know that you plan to stay.  All servicing appointments will enter and exit through the vendor show gate on Lakeside Drive.  Vendors can regain entry to their booths one hour before the show opens each day.

Can someone enter the vendor show to pick up items or for servicing if they have not paid for that day?

No, they must have a pass for entry on any day that they come into Chilhowee park. They can purchase a day pass for $15 in the Jacob building.

What is the sales tax and how do I pay?

The current Tennessee sales tax is 9.25%.  You will be given tax forms when you check in at the Hoot.  You must complete these forms and mail them directly, with payment to the State.

If you did not return your 2006 tax form, the tax collector will be at the Hoot and will assess an amount that they think is appropriate.  We suggest that you contact them before arriving at the Hoot if you have any questions or concerns regarding your 2005 payment.

Is there a place at Chilhowee where I can get change?

No, at this time there is not.  We are looking into all options and will contact the vendors if we find a local bank that is willing to provide this service. Due to strict Tennessee Banking regulations they will not make change for a non-customer, even if you go to their branch.  Make sure you come to the Hoot with plenty of change.

Is there an ATM at Chilhowee Park?

Yes, it is located near the concession stand on the bottom level of the Jacob building.
